Demand for finding sustainable solution to Kathmandu garbage problem



KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) members have demanded the management of Kathmandu Valley’s waste soon.

In a session of the Upper House on Monday, CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Gomadevi Timilsina said, “Streets in Kathmandu have turned almost unwalkable due to waste piles.”

“The report of the outbreak of cholera is panicking. When will the Kathmandu folks be free from the constant struggle for waste management,” she questioned.

She advised the government that a machine manufactured in Hetauda could be used to segregate waste.

Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal’s Pramila Kumari said the provision of inclusion guaranteed by the Constitution was yet to be brought into practice.

Shekhar Kumar Singh of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party urged the House not to make any delay to endorse the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Dil Kumari Rawal of CPN (UML) accused the government of being not serious towards the people’s issues and urged political leaders to rise above the personal and partisan interests.
