PM Deuba to inaugurate NPU’s 9th general convention in Hetauda



KATHMANDU: Preparations have neared the final for the ninth national general convention of Nepal Press Union (NPU) scheduled to take place in Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati Province, on coming July 22-23.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba will be inaugurating the event to take place at the Hetauda-based Royal Party Palace, according to general convention’s local coordination committee joint-coordinator Girija Prasad Adhikari.

As he said, preparations for accommodations for the participants and convention venue management works have been completed while works to build a welcome gate, print invitation cards and banners have been expedited.

Hotels at Hetauda, Makwanpurgadhi, Amlekhgunj and Sarauha have been booked for visitors and a food stall is to be managed near the event venue. As he said, around 1600 press union representatives and guests are expected to join the event.

It is said the general convention will elect a new leadership for the Union, an organization of journalists of democratic stream. Earlier, the Union had formed the local coordination committee headed by its member and Bagmati Province coordinator Rammani Dahal.

Rupesh Dulal has the role of a coordinator for residential management, Sujan Bidari for food management, Posta Raj Adhikari for secretariat management and Keshab Samarpan for publicity affairs.

A main organizing committee has been formed under the coordination of Union central president Badri Sigdel. (RSS)
