Text books yet to reach Baitadi

BAITADI: The text books that the government provides to public schools students for free of cost are yet to reach Baitadi district.

Although new academic session in the district started from mid-May this year, the textbooks have not reached here.

The district has demand for around 83,000 text books in 540 community schools in the district.

So far, only around 50,000 text books have arrived in the district.

Baldev Nath, principal of Sanatan Dharma Secondary School at Shreekot, lamented that even though new academic session has already begin, the schools here are reeling under shortage of textbooks.

“Textbooks have not been received in proportion to the number of students here,” he said.

Narendra Prasad Awasthi, Chief of Education Development and Coordination Unit in Baitadi, shared that the delay for textbook was due to delay in printing process.

The printing process was affected by local level election, according to Awasthi.

“The textbooks for grade 7 and 9 and other grades as well will arrive in the district within few days,” he assured.
