KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff of Nepal General Prabhu Ram Sharma has left for Lebanon for an official visit.
Nepal Army Chief Sharma left for Lebanon today with a seven-member team.
He went to Lebanon to seek information about the future plans of the UN mission and to encourage the troops deployed for peace in the conflict-affected areas.
The delegation led by Chief of Army Staff Sharma was bade farewell by Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.
The delegation will inspect the peacekeeping missions of Nepali peacekeepers, establish the status of the missions, operational activities, and the status of the army deployments at the call of the UN.
During the visit, General Maharthi Sharma is also scheduled to meet with senior officials of various missions in Lebanon and Syria. Following the visit, Chief of Army Staff Sharma is scheduled to pay an official visit to the United States on June 27.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Karki will be the acting Chief of Army Staff. Chief of Army Staff Sharma’s team will return home on July 3 after completing their visit.
