National Veterinary Conference kicks off in Pokhara

POKHARA: The 14th National Veterinary Conference has kicked off in Pokhara.

The conference has been organized with the objective of sharing the results of research and innovation in the field of veterinary medicine and to discuss the situation of the veterinary sector of Nepal.

Organized by Nepal Veterinary Association, the conference will discuss the economic and social impact of veterinary and health, livestock and fish production and management, climate change and animal husbandry.

Central President of the Nepal Veterinary Association said Dr Sheetal Kaji Shrestha Nepal has become self-sufficient in milk, meat and eggs production due to the contribution of veterinarians.

The recent decision of the Government of Nepal to provide veterinary services to the farmers by recruiting veterinarians at 300 local levels of the country is commendable.

Minister for Land Management, Agricultural Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Chandra Bahadur Budha inaugurated the conference that will see special discussions on 69 scientific working papers.

The conference is being attended by 400 people including scientists, veterinarians, professors, researchers and enterprising farmers working in the field of animal science and fisheries.

Representatives of Veterinary Associations of SAARC countries including India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also participating in the conference which will end today.
