Balen maintains lead in Kathmandu, Renu in Bharatpur



KATHMANDU: Independent candidate Balen Shah has maintained his lead in Kathmandu Metropolitan City while Maoist Center’s Renu Dahal is ahead in Bharatpur Metropolis.

So far, Balen has received 15,775 votes in Kathmandu while Renu Dahal has got 9,924.

Balen’s rival CPN-UML’s Keshav Sthapit has got 8,253 votes.

More than 40,505 votes have been counted in Kathmandu Metropolitan City as of Wednesday morning.

In Kathmandu, Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh has got 7,348 votes.

The counting of votes in wards 1 and 2 of Kathmandu Metropolis has been completed. Candidates of the main opposition — CPN-UML – have won in both wards.

With a total of 27,267 votes counted in Bharatpur so far, UML’s Bijay Subedi has got 8,240 votes while Nepali Congress rebel candidate Jagannath Poudel has got 4,488 votes.
