NC wins chair, Maoist Center deputy chair in Baglung municipality



KATHMANDU: Basant Kumar Shrestha of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected as the chief of Baglung municipality. Shrestha defeated his nearest rival Janak Raj Poudel of CPN-UML by a margin of 5,821 votes.

According to the final results, Shrestha got 14,678 votes. Janak Raj Poudel, who is also the outgoing mayor, got 8,821 votes. In the local election of 2074 BS, Shrestha was defeated along with Poudel by a margin of 2,300 votes.

Raju Khadka of the CPN (Maoist Center) won the elections with 12,427 votes for the post of deputy mayor. His nearest rival Sanjay Khadka of RPP got 8,064 votes.
