NC wins mayor, Maoist Center deputy mayor in Madhyapur Thimi



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has won the post of mayor in Madhyapur Thimi municipality in Bhaktapur.

Similarly, CPN-Maoist has won the election to the post of deputy mayor.

Surendra Shrestha has been elected as the mayor of the municipality by defeating the CPN-UML candidate and outgoing mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha by a wide margin.

Surendra got 15,098 votes while Madan Sundar got 11,035 votes.

Bijay Krishna Shrestha of CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected as the deputy mayor.

Bijaya Krishna got 12,102 votes while his nearest rival CPN-UML’s Uttara Nepal got 8,963 votes.
