KATHMANDU: Federation of  Nepali Journalists (FJN) has made public protest programs including sit-ins against those media houses who have exploited working journalists.

Organizing a press meet on Sunday, the FNJ, an umbrella organization of all journalists,  said it would stage sit-ins against Kantipur  Television on Monday and Tuesday and then  Nagarik daily afterward.

FNJ President Bipul Pokharel said the organization is forced to stage sit-ins in the media houses after the issues related to exploitation of working journalists could not be resolved through peaceful dialogues.

“We have decided to stage sit-ins in the media houses after peaceful negotiation could not resolve the issues of working journalists. We have concluded it following a review of one year of our tenure.  We will stage sit-ins at Kantipur Television on Monday and Tuesday,” said Pokharel.

Pokharel said the FNJ will then stage a sit-in at Nagarik daily and and other media houses against which a written complaint has been lodged by a journalist.

Journalist Deepa Dahal had lodged a complaint at the FNJ imploring for justice complaining that Kantipur Television dismissed her from the job in an inhuman and unprofessional manner.
