ICC World Cup Cricket League 2: Nepal loses to UAE by 48 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal lost to UAE in today’s match of ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 match.

In the ongoing triangular series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nepal lost to the home team by 48 runs.

Chasing the target of 169 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Nepal were bowled out for 120 in 35.1 overs.

Nepal’s batting did not work against UAE either. Nepal’s Rohit Kumar Poudel top-scored with 46 runs. Apart from Gyanendra Malla’s 28 and Kushal Bhurtel’s 11, other batsmen could not score double figures.

UAE’s Basil Hamed took the most four wickets to wrap Nepal up cheaply. Hamed, who bowled five overs, spent 15 runs with one maiden. Similarly, Junaid Siddhiki took two wickets while Jahur Khan and Rohan Mustafa took one wicket each.

Earlier, UAE won the toss and elected to bat, losing all their wickets in 46.3 overs for a total of 168 runs. Chundangapoil Rizwan and Rohan Mustafa of UAE scored 40 runs each. Likewise, opener Muhammad Wasim scored 21, Kasif Dawood 18 and Basil Hamed 14 runs.

Nepal’s Sompal Kami took four wickets. Similarly, when Karan KC took three wickets, captain Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airy and Sagar Dhakal took one wicket each.

Earlier, Nepal had defeated Papua New Guinea by two wickets in the first match of the series.

In Division 2, Nepal is in the sixth position with 10 points from 10 games. Similarly, UAE, which is in the second position of the table, has added 20 points from 16 games.
