Two killed, 12 others sustain injury in road mishap

KATHMANDU: Two persons died and 12 others sustained injuries in a road accident at Manahari rural municipality-6 in Makawanpur district along the East-West Highway this morning.

The deceased have been identified as assistant driver Subash Shrestha, 22, of Tarkeshwor rural municipality-4, Makawanpur and Shambhu Darai Magar, 29, from the same place, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayashwor Rimal.

According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the bus (Na 4 Kha 4454) heading towards Chitwan from Hetauda met with an accident at around 8:30 am, Shrestha and Darai Magar died on the spot in the accident.

Police inspector at the Area Police Office, Prakash Thapa, said that details of the number of passengers in the bus are awaited and the reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Similarly, those injured in the accident have been taken to Chitwan Hospital for treatment while the dead bodies have been brought to Hetauda Hospital for postmortem, police said. (RSS)
