KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav is holding a central committee (CC) meeting today.
The CC meeting to be held at Shivagadhi of Kapilvastu will come up with a decision whether to boycott or utilize the upcoming local level elections, informed party’s spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Bishwokarma. The local level elections will be held on May 13.
Party’s General Secretary Biplav on February 28 had proposed to capitalize on the local level elections. However, there are differences on whether to take part in the elections or not. In the five-member secretariat of the NCP, only Bishwokarma had supported Biplav’s proposal.
Dharmendra Bastola and Hemanta Wali ‘Sudarshan’ had stood against the proposal. Member Santosh Budha Magar had remained neutral.
Since Biplav has been holding meetings with CPN (Maoist Center) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara regularly, it is likely that he will propose to move ahead forming an alliance with the Maoist Center.
Biplav’s NCP had boycotted the previous local level elections.
