Ruling coalition’s meeting on MCC ends without transient outcome

To meet Sunday again

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling coalition convened at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar has ended without any transient outcome.

The top-notch leaders of the ruling coalition failed to reach consensus on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) after they did not budge from their respective stance.  The meeting had been called in a bid to make an effort to reach a consensus on  the MCC.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, said the meeting of the ruling coalition has ended on a positive note. It will take place at 10 am Sunday again. “The meeting will take a final call on the MCC,” said Minister Karki.

In the meeting held at Baluwatar this morning Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has agreed not to table the MCC in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR).

The meeting was scheduled for today as no agreement was reached in Thursday’s meeting.

Before the meeting of the ruling coalition, the meeting of the top leaders of the anti-MCC alliance was held at the residence Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” in Khumaltar.

The Maoist center has already decided to quit the government if the government tabled the Compact without the consent of the ruling parties.
