HCC-N sends humanitarian supplies to Afghani people



KATHMANDU: Several social and business organizations, including Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCC-N) joined hands with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to send humanitarian aid and supplies to Afghanistan on January 16.

Organizations, including the Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCC-N), FNCCI, CNI, NCC, Roundtable Nepal, Agrawal Sewa Kendra have dispatched humanitarian aid to Afghanistan with the initiation of the MoFA.

The organizations collected the relief items, including blankets, fleece jackets, stainless steel plates, woolen caps, scarves, shoes and medicines, among others, and sent them with meticulous coordination from the Foreign Ministry and Protocol Section.

The MoFA dispatched sent 10 tons of relief items to Afghanistan and handed them over to Mr. Ramiz Alakbarov Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Humanitarian & Development Coordinator for Afghanistan at the Kabul International Airport on 16 January 2022.

Among the dispatched items, HCC-N donated 8 tons worth Rs. 7.5 million as assistance.

Dean Lokmanya Golchha of HCC-N, who is also the Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, was the representative from Honorary Consular Corps- Nepal, among the delegates that flew to Kabul to hand over the relief materials and supplies.

Consul Naresh Das of the Kingdom Seychelles and Consul Vishnu Kumar Agarwal of the Czech Republic were also in the delegation.

This was the first time that Nepal initiated humanitarian assistance with a chartered flight to support the people of a friendly neighboring country.

“The humanitarian assistance would not have been possible without the support of the Foreign Ministry, Agrawal Sewa Kendra, and all Consuls in Kathmandu who joined for the noble cause,” Dean Golchha said.
