Local govt should be more transparent and result-oriented: Prime Minister Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that local government should be more result-oriented, transparent and accountable to the public.

Speaking at a program organized to mark 104th Foundation Day of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, PM Deuba remarked that the people’s expectation from the local levels are related to the substantive changes in their lifestyle.

“Since the local government is close to the ground level people, the people are of the opinion that the functioning of the local level should be more responsible, result-oriented and accountable to the citizens,” he said, adding, “The Constitution of Nepal has also provisioned important rights and responsibilities to the local level regarding it as a pillar of development and public service.”

PM Deuba praised the Lalitpur Metropolis for executing work as per the people’s expectation.
