Innovation in science create jobs: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba addresses a program organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) on the occasion of 10th National Science Day in Kathmandu on Saturday.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that innovation in the field of science create massive jobs.

At a program organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) on the occasion of 10th National Science Day here today, PM Deuba assured that the government was committed towards development of science, technology, production of scientific human resources, innovations and their protection.

Stating that various scientific research were being conducted to make human lives happy and easy, Deuba opined that although it had not been long since the modern science education was taught in the schools, there were some key developments in the field of science.

He pressed for developing digital economy and said called for cooperation from the private sector towards implementing its policy of protecting talents and arranging research for scientific human resources. He pointed out the need for expanding the field of science and inviting more foreign investment in this sector.

Deuba also argued that enabling environment should be created from village level to develop and promote science education.

Similarly, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel assured that the universities would be changed into the research center.

Likewise, Minister of State for Education, Science and Technology Bodhmaya Kumari Yadav underscored need of science education for sustainable development of the country.

Chairperson of the National Innovation Center, Mahabir Pun, opined that one percent of gross domestic product ought to be invested in the scientific research.

Secretary at the MoEST, Pramila Devi Bajracharya, spoke of the need to consider increasing grant for research.

Various people working actively in the field of science education were feted on the occasion in recognition to their contribution.
