Oli’s move to dissolve parliament definitely regressive: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that UML Chair KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve Parliament was definitely an act of regression.

Addressing the last meeting of the House of Representatives on Saturday, Prachanda said that the erstwhile Prime Minister Oli had instead of resolving the party’s internal disputes decided to dissolve the sovereign parliament. “The move was certainly regressive.”

After Oli defended the dissolution of the parliament and said that it was done according to the provisions of the constitution, Prachanda questioned Oli, “What was the dissolution of the parliament if it was not regression?”

“The leader of the main opposition party lectured on regression and democracy. I felt a bit strange. I thought anyone is allowed to say anything,” said Prachanda.

Prachanda added, “If one consciously grasps the essence of the Constitution the House cannot be dissolved as long as there is a possibility of forming another government from within the House.”
