Cases of viral fever go up in Khotang, infected health workers compelled to render services



KHOTANG: The District Hospital Khotang is receiving increasing number of viral fever infected patients of late.

Among the around 150 patients visiting the Hospital for the OPD services, over 50 to 60 per cent complain of high fever, headache, pain in joint, among other health issues, symptoms close to Coronavirus infection, informed Dr Puskal Rai.

Dr Rai further said that the infected ones were asked to be on medication and stay in home-isolation for at least 10 days.

Moreover, the health workers in the Hospital are being taken ill one after another, spurring tension for the infected ones as well as the Hospital management.

Of the 58 health workers in the District Hospital, 14 have been infected with viral fever so far, informed administration chief of the Hospital, Rabin Phuyal.

The infected health workers were compelled to continue with their duty despite the infection to provide uninterrupted health services to the patients.

Growing cases of viral fever has equally worried the locals. The District having a total of 10 local levels have COVID-19 treatment facilities in almost of the local levels but almost of them are inactive at present.

District Health Office, Khotang Chief Punya Prasad Sigdel, however, shared that all logistical preparations had been completed to re-oparate those idle treatment facilities.

Towards this, the oxygen plant installed in the District Hospital at the cost of Rs 10.5 million in financial assistance from the Province No 1 government has been brought into operation since last Monday.
