KATHMANDU: The newly elected Deputy Speaker, Pushpa Bhusal, assumed office at the office of the Deputy Speaker at Singhdarbar on Sunday.

On the occasion, she expressed her commitment to fulfill all the responsibilities of the Deputy Speaker for the implementation of the Constitution. “I will help the House to grow in an effective manner during my four-month tenure,” she said.

Earlier today, in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota administered the oath of office and secrecy to Deputy Speaker Bhusal at a ceremony held at the Office of the President Sheetal Niwas.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, ministers, heads of security agencies and others distinguished personalities.

It may be noted that the House of Representatives on Friday elected Bhusal, a Nepali Congress MP, as the Deputy Speaker of the federal parliament.
