Maoist Vice-Chair Shrestha disappointed at applause given to UML Chair Oli

Says blind support to the leadership endangers sovereignty of nation

KATHMANDU: Vice Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center Narayan Kaji Shrestha has expressed his dissatisfaction over the leftist alliance supporter for clapping at the CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli’s ‘arrogant and unwelcoming remarks’ made against his (Shrestha’s) appeal for left alliance.

Sharing his feelings on social media on Sunday, Shrestha remarked that the claps on UML Chair Oli’s reply to his appeal for leftist alliance undermine the need for such alliance.

The Maoist Center Vice-Chair had reiterated the need of forming a leftist alliance in the forthcoming federal and provincial elections.

Speaker after Shrestha, UML Chair Oli had pointed out that the Maoist Center had to self-criticize for challenging the Oli-led government’s decision of dissolving the House of Representatives and for forming alliance with Nepali Congress.

“When I put forward a proposal that the leftist forces should harmonize and unite, and even when I made the above appeal not to be just like a lawyer who does everything possible to make its client win, the audience present in the hall supported me by clapping,” he said, adding, “The same audience’s applause to Comrade Oli’s display of arrogance will undermine the unity of the Left.”

Shrestha further said  that unless the leftist forces realize the need for unity  and alliance, the leftist movement will weaken and collapse which will eventually increasing the chances of further endangering Nepal’s sovereignty, independence and national interests.
