Two killed, one injured in Taplejung landslide



TAPLEJUNG: Two members of the same family have died after being buried in a landslide in Khewang of Sirijangha Rural Municipality-7 of Taplejung last night.

According to DSP Kailash Rai, Chief of the District Police Office, Taplejung, mother-in-law Tulasa Adhikari and daughter-in-law Yashoda Adhikari died after being buried in a landslide last night.

Likewise, Tulasa’s husband Bishnu Adhikari has been injured.

He has been brought to the District Hospital, Taplejung for treatment.

Locals said that the injured Adhikari managed to escape and save his life.

The landslide has washed away both the houses of the Adhikari family and destroyed the nearby livestock.

The landslide occurred at three places in Taplejung including Khewang last night, according to police.

The landslide also hit Mamankhe and Faktalung of the district.

A team of police and health workers from the District Police Office, Taplejung has already headed toward the site to collect details of the landslide.
