Balen sprints ahead in KMC mayoral race

Balen: 12,892; Sthapit: 6,885; Sirjana: 6,109



KATHMANDU: The counting of votes is underway in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

According to the latest results, independent candidate Balen Shah has maintained his lead with 12,892 votes. He is 6,008 votes ahead of nearest rival CPN-UML’s Keshav Sthapit, who has got 6,885 votes.

Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh got 6,109 votes.

UML’s Sunita Dangol is leading with 12,157 votes for the deputy mayor’s post. Rameshwar Shrestha of CPN-Unified Socialist is chasing her with 3,614 votes and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Binita Magaiya with 2628 votes.

As of writing, the counting of votes in wards 1 and 2 of Kathmandu metropolis has been completed. CPN-UML candidate has won in both the wards.
