Ruling coalition wins mayor post in Sundarbazar Municipality



LAMJUNG: Krishna Prasad Koirala of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the mayor of Sundarbazar Municipality in Lamjung district.

Koirala, a candidate on behalf the ruling alliance, secured 6,641 votes while his closest competitor Bhim Bahadur Gurung of the CPN (UML) bagged 6,036 votes, the Office of the Election Officer, Sundarbazar, said.

An independent candidate Dwarika Prasad Mishra got 4,475 votes.

CPN (UML)’s Bhawani KC has become victorious in the election to the post of Deputy Mayor. She bagged 5,018 votes against the 2,204 secured by her closest competitor Ram Babu Adhikari of the CPN (Unified Socialist).

The total number of voters in the municipality is 20,796. The voter turnout in the May 13 local election was 14,052. The municipality has 11 wards.
