NC wins in Siddicharan municipality



OKHALDHUNGA: Nepali Congress candidate Tejan Khanal has been elected Mayor of Siddicharan municipality in the district while CPN UML’s Kedar Babu Basnet became Deputy Mayor.

Khanal secured 6,791 votes thereby becoming Mayor and Basnet secured 5,698 votes to be Deputy Mayor. Khanal’s nearest rival Icchha Kumari Gurung of CPN UML collected 5,650 votes. Similarly, Basnet nearest rival Rupesh Shakya of CPN (Maoist Centre) got 5,152 votes.

Except at Jantarkhani, the NC and Maoist Centre had forged electoral alliance in Siddicharan Municipality. Among 12 wards, NC got victory in nine wards, UML in two and Maoist Centre in one.

Meanwhile, in Molung Rural Municipality, CPN UML candidate Uttam Rai has been elected Chairperson with 4,052 votes while his nearest rival Rajan Dahal from Nepali Congress collected 3,462 votes.

Moreover, UML’s Urmila Khatiwada became Vice Chairperson, getting 4,200 votes. Among eight wards in the rural municipality, UML secured victory in five wards and NC in three.
