Suspended Governor Adhikari moves apex court against government decision

Suspended Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has moved the court against the government’s decision to suspend him.

The government had formed a three-member probe committee under a former Supreme Court justice on April 9 which led to the automatic suspension of Adhikari.

Adhikari filed a writ petition against the government move, seeking an interim order to reclaim his post.

Ruling coalition to finalize candidates for metropolis and sub-metropolis by tomorrow

The ruling five-party alliance is set to decide on the candidates for the metropolitan and sub-metropolitan constituencies by tomorrow.

A meeting of the ruling coalition held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today has agreed to decide the candidates by Monday.

EC deploys 77 chiefs, 676 returning officers for local election

The Election Commission (EC) has appointed Chief Electoral Officers in 77 districts for the local level elections.

The EC said that election officials have been deployed at 676 out of 753 local levels.

NC’s responsibility to keep ruling coalition intact: PM Deuba

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized the need for all party leaders to be responsible to keep the coalition intact.

PM Deuba said that it was the responsibility of the Nepali Congress to bring the ruling alliance together in the upcoming local elections.

RPP Chair Lingden rules out electoral coordination of any kind

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has clarified that his party will not forge an alliance with any other parties in the local level election.

The second local level election after Nepal embraced federalism is slated for May 13 this year.

EC settles election symbol for parties

The election symbols for the local level election have been fixed and included in the ballot paper. The election of 753 local levels across the country is taking place on May 13.

The Election Commission stated that the election symbol of the six nationally-recognized political parties have been fixed based on the number of votes they garnered in the proportional election system in the election to the House of Representatives in 2017.

Minor singer changes her statement in the case against Paul Shah

Giving an uneven twist to the incident, the minor singer has changed her statement in the case related to rape accused actor Paul Shah.

Contrary to the statement she had made while filing the case, the minor girl said, on Sunday, the details mentioned in the complaint were not true.

She changed the statement while giving statement in the district court in Tanahu today.
