No illusion on MCC: Home Minister Khand

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Balkrishna Khand has said there was no point in suspecting the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). It is useless to spread illusion that the US Army will come to Nepal with the MCC grant, he reminded.

Home Minister Khand said it while inaugurating the 12th Kapilvastu Festival organized at Jitpur of Banganga Municipality, on Thursday. He made it clear that MCC compact had electricity and roadway projects.

He admitted that Nepal has been slow off the mark in hydropower production in terms of its richness in hydro resources. “However, the electricity is wasted in the rainy season while it is imported from India in the winter season,” Minister Khand said, stressing the need for exporting surplus energy to reduce trade deficit.

According to him, the government was friendly to entrepreneurship. Government and people are two sides of the same coin, he viewed. The Kapilvastu Festival lasts for 10 days.
