Rape case filed against actor Shah in Nawalpur (East) District Court



KATHMANDU: A rape case has been filed against actor Paul Shah in Nawalpur (East) District Court.

An indictment was filed against Shah by the public prosecutor’s office on Thursday on the basis of a complaint filed by a 16-year-old minor actress.

According to Assistant District Attorney Dal Bahadur Nepali of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office, a case against Shah has been filed claiming that he has committed a crime under Sections 1 and 2 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code, 2017.

The said articles of the law have stated that if a man rapes a woman without her consent, then it will be considered raped and the same will be considered if a man establishes physical relations with a girl under the age of 18 despite the minor’s consent.

The case has demanded a verdict against Shah in accordance with Article 219 (3) (c) of the Criminal Code, 2017. If proved guilty, Shah will face 10 to 14 years in prison for raping a girl, who is in-between 14 and 16.

The girl had lodged a complaint against Shah at the District Police Office, Tanahu, on February 23 alleging that she had been raped. Shah surrendered at the District Police Office, Tanahu, on February 27.

After that, the victim had also lodged a complaint against Shah at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi East.

The teenage girl had lodged a complaint claiming that she was raped at a resort in Nawalparasi East on March 21. After that, Nawalparasi East police took Shah’s statement by taking him under jurisdiction.

Shah is currently in the custody of the District Police Office, Tanahun, where, investigating is underway and the case has yet to reach the court.
