Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital built with Indian assistance in Bhojpur inaugurated

BHOJPUR: Minister for Communications & Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, and Namgya C. Khampa, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, jointly inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital Building built under Government of India’s grant assistance in health sector.

The event was also attended by embassy officials and local government representatives.

The project, built at the cost of NRs. 22.60 million, is one of the 75 projects being inaugurated this year in Nepal as part of “India@75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” which celebrates 75 years of India’s independence.

This hospital will provide better access to quality health care services to the people of Bhojpur and nearby districts, a statement issued by the Embassy of India said on Thursday.

The hospital is provisioned with 15-bedded indoor capacity with maternity section, 24 hours emergency examination rooms, children ward, operation theatre, waiting hall, pathology lab, rooms for doctors & medical staff, office, toilets for ladies and guests and furniture & hospital equipment to provide improved health care to the people.

Since 2003, India has taken up over 523 HICDPs in Nepal and has completed 467 projects.

Amongst these, 78 Projects have been undertaken in Province-1 of Nepal including 4 projects in Bhojpur District.

In addition, the government of India has also gifted 3 ambulances for Bhojpur District till date.

Speaking on the occasion, Khampa reiterated that this project was a testament to the multi-faceted, strong and robust development partnership between India and Nepal. Minister Karki appreciated the continued support of Government of India to Nepal.

As close neighbors, India and Nepal share wide-ranging & multi-sectoral cooperation.

The implementation of this project reflects Government of India’s continued commitment to continue to collaborate with Government of Nepal in its socio-economic development and augmenting its physical infrastructure, especially in the health sector.
