PM Deuba leaves for Balkot to meet UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has left for Balkot, the residence of leader of the main opposition KP Sharma Oli, to meet him.

According to sources close to the PM Deuba, the prime minister has gone to Balkot to discuss the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

A meeting of the top leaders of the four parties in the ruling coalition in Baluwatar earlier failed to reach an agreement on tabling MCC in parliament.

PM Deuba left for Balkot as soon as the meeting of the coalition ended inconclusively.

Earlier in the afternoon, Nepali Congress leader Minendra Rijal also had met UML Chair Oli by reaching his residence in Balkot.

Sources said that ruling partners CPN-Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist put forward a condition of removing the obstruction of parliament by the main opposition to move MCC forward. They urged PM Deuba to hold discussion with Oli before moving MCC forward in parliament.
