NC Whip Bhusal presses for tabling MCC in parliament soon

KATHMANDU: Whip of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party Pushpa Bhusal has stressed the need for tabling and discussing the US’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact in the parliament as soon as possible.

Stating that all the governments in the past pledged to implement the project, she viewed that the compact which is connected to relations, including foreign and economic between Nepal and the US, should not be used as a means of accessing political gains and power. She also reminded that the main opposition CPN-UML also was in favor of passing the grant project from the parliament while in the government.

“The project should be discussed at the parliament soon so as to make people aware about it. Only thereafter, it will decide to go for voting on the matter,” she said.

Similarly, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Whip Umashankar Argariya spoke of the need of moving the document to parliamentary proceedings soon as it was in the interest of Nepal and the Nepalis. “ The proposal is related to Nepal’s development and prosperity”, he added.
