Maoist Chair Prachanda, CPN-US’ Nepal and JSP’s Shrestha hold discussions before ruling coalition meet

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the ruling coalition partners CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-Unified Socialist Party (CPN-US) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) have held separate discussions before the meeting of the ruling coalition.

Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-US Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and JSP leader Rajendra Shrestha held discussions at the office of the Parliamentary Party of the Maoist Center at Singha Durbar.

Sources close to the leaders said they probably discussed the fates of the coalition and US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The agenda of their discussions are yet to be known.

The Nepali Congress (NC) led government on Wednesday was set to table the MCC agreement in the parliament; however, due to disagreement within the ruling coalition, MCC was not tabled.

The NC is adamant about tabling the MCC agreement in the parliament. However, the Maoist Center and the CPN-US are opposed to the move. However, the JSP is undecided and divided on the issue.

A ruling coalition meeting has been called for 5 pm today to discuss various issues, including MCC, facing the coalition currently.
