Foreign Employment Board joins NHCL’s NPI network

KATHMANDU: The Foreign Employment Board (FEB) has also joined the National Payments Interface (NPI) network of the Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL).

The FEB has entered into an agreement with NCHL to automate payment transactions by integrating them into NPI. FEB Executive Director Rajan Prasad Shrestha, and NHCL Chief Executive Office Nileshman Singh Pradhan signed an agreement to the effect.

The FEB now will be able to link its internal payment system with NPI under National Payment Switch and make payments directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This would automate payments, including vendor payments and compensation, to migrants suffering disability or death during foreign employment.

Prior to this agreement, cheque was used in all payment transactions.

NPI will allow FEB to improve services significantly and families of the victims would receive payments in a hassle-free manner.

The FEB has been using Connect IPS (another payment system) to collect amounts from migrants for the migrants’ welfare fund.
