Four arrested with 294 counterfeit notes



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons with 294 counterfeit Nepali currency notes of Rs 1,000 each from the Naya Bazaar area in Kathmandu, police said.

Among the arrested are Prithvi Prasad Sah, 28, of Rautahat Gaur Municipality-12, Mohammad Musraf Ali, 27, of Rautahat Rajpur Municipality-3, Asraf Ali Shahid, 30, of Rautahat Rajpur Municipality-6 and Mohammad Shamsad Alam of Rautahat.

Based on the information that counterfeit notes were being traded illegally in the area, the police deployed by the Metropolitan Crime Branch found the counterfeit Nepali notes and arrested them.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
