PM Deuba and Prachanda hold talks; coalition meeting rescheduled for 5 pm

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal have held talks on Thursday morning.

The two heavyweights held a meeting prior to the meeting of the ruling coalition scheduled for today to take a final call on the US grant assistance millennium challenge corporation (MCC).

According to Baluwatar sources, the meeting held this morning did not strike chords on the issue as both the leaders stick to their respective stances.

NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba wants to table the MCC in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) while Prachanda is in favour of tabling it with the consensus from the ruling alliance.

Meanwhile, the ruling coalition meeting called for 3 pm today has been rescheduled for 5 pm in a bid to reach consensus on the MCC.

The Maoist Center has warned that it would pull out of the government if the MCC were tabled in the parliament without reaching consensus among the coalition parties.
