Maoists to elect PP leader after December 18

The ruling Maoist Center said it would elect the Parliamentary Party leader only after the Election Commission (EC) hands over certificates to members elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) under Proportional Representation system.

Chief Secretary of the Maoist Center’s office, Shree Ram Dhakal claimed that since there was no dispute over the election of the parliamentary party leader like in other parties, the party would not make any haste in electing the PP leader.

NOC slashes prices of petroleum products

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the price of petroleum poducts.

The price of petrol, diesel and kerosene has been reduced by Rs 3 per liter each with effect from 12 midnight on Friday.

With this, a liter of petrol will be Rs 178 and diesel/kerosene will cost Rs 175.

Budget expenditures at 24.26 percent in five months

Budget expenditures of the government in the first five months of the current fiscal year (FY) 2022/23 stood at 24.26 percent.

Out of over Rs 1,793 billion budget brought for the current FY, more than Rs 435 billion has been spent until mid-December, said the Financial Comptroller General Office.

Similarly, for the current FY, under the capital expenditures, the government has allocated more than Rs 380 billion.

Action taken against 456 drivers for violating traffic rules

The Department of Traffic Management has taken action against 456 people for violating traffic rules in the last one month in Kathmandu.

The government collected Rs 350,000 in revenue during this period.

Traffice police seized 101 registration books (blue books) and 355 licenses for violating the rules.

Vehicles emitting black smoke to be fined upto Rs 1 lakh

In an attempt to reduce air pollution in Kathmandu Valley, the Department of Department of Environment has decided to impose heavy fines on vehicles emiting black smoke exceeding the safety standard.

The Department said it will impose a fine of Rs 100,000 on such vehicles from today.

Nepal receives Rs 378 billion in remittance in four months

With an impressive growth rate in the remittance inflow compared to the last year, the country received Rs 378.04 billion in remittance in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

The growth rate is more than 20 percent against a decrease of 7 percent in the same period of the last year.

India-Nepal Agri Meet organized in Kathmandu

An India-Nepal Agri Meet cum Curtain Raiser for the International Year of Millets 2023 has been organized in Kathmandu.

Dr. Govind Prasad Sharma, Secretary (Agriculture Development), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development led the Nepali side in the event organized by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu in a hybrid format.

Baglung sees 20 percent growth in orange production

Baglung district has witnessed a growth of 20 percent in orange production compared to the last year.

This year, the farmers in the district produced around 4,380 metric tonnes of orange, Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Baglung, Bhanu Bhakta Bhattarai said.
