November 20 election is a kind of plebiscite: Prachanda

BIRATNAGAR: The Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the election of November 20 is a kind of referendum to pick one from the regressive forces and the democratic-left alliance.

Recalling CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli’s attempt to dissolve the House of Representatives in last six months of Oli’s premiership, Prachanda labeled the UML-Rastriya Prajatantrik Party alliance as an alliance of regressive forces.

Speaking at an election program in Gachhiya, Morang on Wednesday, the Maoist Center Chairman reiterated on the need to get the democratic-left alliance elected for the political stability and national development.

He also said that he uttered the words ‘Jai Nepal’ during the detailed peace agreement and the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala greeted him saying ‘Lalsalam’ denoting both the democratic and leftist forces would go ahead united against regressive forces.

“On the day after signing the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, I turned to Girijababu and said ‘Jai Nepal’. Girijababu also turned to me and said Lalsalam,” Prachand recalled the peace-accord signing moment.
