KATHMANDU: Rastriya Ekata Abhiya has protested Chinese expansionism after its President Binay Yadav was freed from police custody.

Activists of the Abhiyan chanted slogans against Chinese expansionism while welcoming President Yadav.

Upon his release, President Yadav said a jumbo team, including Chinese National People’s Congress Chairman Li Zhanshu, had come to Nepal and tried to impose Chinese expansionism here.

He said, “The visit of the Chinese side, which is said to have played influential role in the formation of the left alliance in the general election of 2017, as another election approached is in itself suspicious.”

He added, “The Chinese side coming here just before election and holding meetings with Prime Minister and senior leaders is something to ponder on.”

Police had arrested Yadav, who hails from Bara, from Nagendrakancha Chowk in Shantinagar during Chinese leader Li’s visit to Nepal.
