HoR, Province Assembly’s term to expire from Saturday midnight

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has made it clear that the term of House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly would automatically expire from Saturday (September 17) midnight.

Issuing a press release on Friday (today), the EC said the term of the HoR and Province Assembly would expire from midnight September 17, a day before the two days given by the EC to submit closed list of candidates to political parties for the 2022 elections.

A decision was taken to this effect based on the letter sent by the National Assembly’s National Concern and Coordination Committee on September 13 and the recommendations furnished by the meeting of political parties on September 14.

EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel shared that HoR, Province Assembly, Federal Parliament, National Assembly’s National Concern and Coordination Committee and political parties would be notified about the decision made by the Commission on the expiry of terms of HoR and Province Assembly.

Furthermore, the decision would be published in Nepal gazette as well, according to the press statement.
