Home Minister converses with officials to find ways to reduce human-wildlife conflict



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has held a telephonic conversion with officials of the respective ministry and chief district officers of some districts on Saturday on finding ways to reduce human-wildlife conflict.

The talk was joined by Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment Dr Prem Narayan Kandel, Chief District Officer, Bardiya, Bandhu Prasad Bastola and CDO, Jhapa, Chhabi Lal Rijal.

The chat took place following repeated human attacks by wild animals in Bardiya and Jhapa districts, it has been said.

One month ago, local people of Madhuban Municipality took to the streets demanding security following tiger attack time and again.

Thereafter, a delegation team including the municipality mayor Tej Bahadur Bhat met with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Khand and demanded security.

Home Minister talked about measures like building a fencing to prevent wild animals from entering human settlements, said CDO Bastola.
