No agreement be reached to weaken country’s non-aligned foreign policy: UML leader Pokharel

KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) lawmaker Ishwor Pokharel has said no agreement should be reached in a way to weaken the country’s non-aligned foreign policy.

The UML always stands against any issue that would weaken the country’s foreign policy, he said while speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday.

On the State Partnership Programme (SPP) of the US, the UML senior vice chair said the program is not acceptable as it is against the welfare of the state.

The SPP proposed by the United States of America was brought to him when he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister in the erstwhile government led by the UML but was rejected, he claimed.

Similarly, lawmaker Durga Paudel was of the view that all should be serious about the SPP as it is not in favour of the country. The lawmaker also called for rejecting it.
