Bagmati government prioritizes agriculture, education and health in its budget



HETAUDA: The Bagmati Province government has given priority to agriculture, education and health sectors in its budget.

The budget also includes a plan to set up a chemical fertilizer factory, hospital standardization, a kidney transplant service in Hetauda Hospital, and a science and technology university.

The budget includes issues such as job creation, development plans for marginalized communities, and declaring Chepang a protected area.

Minister Jamakattel has also put top priority to the Kathmandu-Hetauda travel and transport service by upgrading and improving Bhainse-Bhimphedi road section and Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Dakshinkali road along with drainage systems.

The budget has been allocated for managing ‘One School, One Nurse’ in each public school and ‘One Ward, One Livestock Clinic’ in the province.

Other programs featured in the annual budget are ‘One House, One Tap’, ‘One School, One Nurse’, managing nomadic Chepang community of Chitwan and Dhading in preserved area and providing them with different opportunities.

The province government is set to run the under-construction Milk Powder Plant in Hetauda from coming fiscal year.

The budget has also laid emphasis on promoting adventurous and mountaineering tourism in Langtang, Jugal, Ganesh and Gaurishanker Himal area and water tourism in the rivers, including Tamakoshi, Bhotekoshi, Trishuli and Narayani.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Shalikram Jammakattel in a total budget of Rs. 70.93 billion for the fiscal year 2022/23, has allocated Rs. 19.24 billion for current expenditure and Rs. 41.56 billion for capital expenditure.

Likewise, Rs. 8 billion 355.37 million has been allocated for fiscal transfer and Rs. 2 billion for financial management.
