Singer Raju Lama scales Mt Everest



KATHMANDU: Singer Raju Lama has scaled the highest peak of the world, Mt Everest on Monday morning.

A team of 27 climbers including Lama reached atop Mt Everest (8848.86) at 6:40 am today.

According to the Imagine Nepal Trek and Expedition Pvt Ltd, the mountaineering team includes nationals from China, Australia, Russia, and Pakistan including Nepal.

Lama has climbed the highest peak in the world to disseminate messages about the impact of climate change. He had organized a concert at camp III at the altitude of 6,574.

The snow-capped mountains and glaciers are melting due to global warming and it has posed a risk to the day-to-day lives of the people living in the coastal region and the cultures held by them.

Lama is the lead vocalist of the Mangolian Heart, a folk musical band of Nepal.
