KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has won in two municipalities of Dhankuta, which had been clean swept by the CPN-UML in the previous elections.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the NC has won in Chhathar Jorpati municipality and Sagurigadhi municipality of Dhankuta.
Chhatra Bahadur Subba of NC has won in Chhatar Jorpati rural municipality with 4,359 votes.
His rival Sher Bahadur Limbu of the CPN-UML got 4,164 votes. Gita Gurung of CPN (Maoist Center) has also won the election representing the coalition.
She defeated Goma Karki of UML.
Similarly, Jitendra Rai of NC has won the post of Sagurigadhi rural municipality chairman with 5,399 votes.
His UML rival Kumar Jung Yakha got 4,828 votes. UML’s Muna Rai won the post of vice chairperson.
She defeated Lila Raj Lawati of Janata Samajwadi Party.
CPN-UML has emerged victorious in Chaubise rural municipality of Dhankuta.
