Competition can also take place within alliance: NC Spokesperson Mahat

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that there could be competition between the ruling parties at any local level.

Speaking to reporters at the party’s central office in Sanepa during a meeting of the party’s central working committee on Saturday, he said there could be friendly competition at the local level if more than one party in the alliance thinks it will win.

However, he said that no party could form an alliance with the CPN-UML at such a local level.

“If there is no consensus anywhere and one thinks it commands the place and is confident that the opposition cannot win then there can be friendly competition in such a place,” he said.

“But we are not going to form an alliance with the UML because we could not forge consensus.”

Mahat urged the party’s lower committees to inform in time if there is no consensus on forming an alliance at any local level.
