PM Deuba, Prachanda decide not to table MCC in Parliament today



KATHMANDU: The government will not table Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

This was decided at a meeting between Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday.

Prachanda had reached Baluwatar and informed Prime Minister Deuba that the Maoist Center would quit the government if the MCC was tabled in the parliament without the consent of all the ruling partners.

Sources said that Prachanda told PM Deuba that the government should forge a consensus on the issue before tabling it in the parliament.

The two leaders have also agreed to hold an all-party meeting on Thursday to try to reach a consensus on MCC.
