PM Deuba calls ruling coalition’s meeting at 3 pm Thursday

To dwell on MCC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the ruling alliance.

Prime Minister Deuba has called the meeting following the meeting with CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda.

According to Prachanda’s personal secretary Ganga Dahal, the meeting of the top leaders of the ruling alliance has been called for 3 pm tomorrow.

Prachanda had reached Baluwatar soon after the meeting of the party’s parliamentary parties. Prime Minister Deuba and Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda dwelled on the issue regarding the US grant assistance millennium challenge corporation (MCC) and his party’s decision.

In the parliamentary party meeting of the Maoist Center held this morning, Prachanda said the MCC could not be tabled in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Prachanda said, “The ruling alliance has not reached consensus on the issue of the MCC. The main opposition CPN-UML has been obstructing the parliament for a long time. The MCC cannot be endorsed in the status quo.

In the meeting, the Maoist Center warned that it would quit the government if the government tabled the MCC Compact in today’s Parliament session without the consent of the ruling partners.
