KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” are holding one-on-one talks at the former’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Talks are underway between Prachanda and Deuba on Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), it has been learned.

Prachanda had reached Baluwatar soon after the meeting of the party’s parliamentary parties.

In the parliamentary party meeting of the Maoist Center held this morning, Prachanda said the MCC could not be tabled in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Prachanda said, “The ruling alliance has not reached consensus on the issue of the MCC. The main opposition CPN-UML has been obstructing the parliament for a long time. The MCC cannot be endorsed in the status quo.

In the meeting, the Maoist Center warned that it would quit the government if the government tabled the MCC Compact in today’s Parliament session without the consent of the ruling partners.
