Minor impact of bandh; 18 arrested



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 18 bandh enforcers from different places of the Kathmandu Valley this morning.

As many as 18 bandh enforcers have been arrested as of 8 am today, informed SP Sudip Giri, the chief of Metropolitan Police Rage, Kathmandu.

Bandh enforcers have tried to set a fire to a taxi at Koteshwor but in vain due to the timely intervention by the security personnel.

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu arrested 50-year-old Mangal Bahadur Moktan while he was trying to set the taxi ablaze by dousing it in kerosene.

With the security situation beefed up, the impact of the strike is insignificant in the federal capital.

A significant number of private and public vehicles are plying the roads in the Valley. Shops and market places are operating smoothly. Some schools are running online classes.

Six communist parties –CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) led by Mohan Baidhya, Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand, Nepal Communist Party led by Rishi Kattel, Baigyanik Samajwadi Party led by Ahuti, CPN (Maoist Center Socialist) led by Karnajit Budhathoki and Deshbhakta Jana Ganatantrik Morcha Nepal led by CP Gajurel – have called bandh today in protest of the millennium challenge corporation (MCC).
