FDI in first five months of current FY increases by 49.6 percent; Govt’s capital expenditure stands at 13.44 percent

KATHMANDU: Out of Rs 378.09 billion allocated for the Fiscal Year 2021/22, the government has spent Rs 50.80 billion from mid-July and mid-January, the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), said.

This means that 13.44 percent has been spent on development projects in the last six months.

The government had spent 14.4 percent in the first six months of the last fiscal year out of the total annual budget allocated under the heading.

It may be noted that the government, in 2020/21, spent only Rs 227.73 billion out of Rs 352.91 billion appropriated under the heading.

Meanwhile, the inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first five months of 2021/22 has increased by 49.6 per cent in comparison to the previous Fiscal year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank.
