KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary, Gagan Thapa, who is contesting from Kathmandu Constituency-4, has portrayed himself as the future Prime Minister.

In fact, Thapa has been one of the most-talked-about leaders since he was active in student politics for his flawless oratory.

Thapa, who has received good ‘coverage’ in the Nepali media since the beginning, is hopeful of being elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) this time as well. And that is his claim.

However, even though he has been reiterating his interest to become the country’s Prime Minister, Nepali Congress is officially silent on the issue.

Whether or not he would become the country’s PM soon after the November 20 elections, voters of Kathmandu Constituency-4 believe he would continue to raise his voice against all anomalies.

However, Gagan has not made his roadmap public. His confidants say Gagan has already prepared a complete blueprint of all the developments that he can do after becoming the prime minister.

However, Gagan has accomplished a lot in politics since h seems to be adept at accomplishing goals and objectives.

Gagan, who is also the General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has garnered the support of young leaders within and outside the party.

Apart from that, even the youth leaders of other parties have sympathy towards him. Taking advantage of his popularity, Gagan has been reiterating his desire to become the Prime Minister by contesting the election of the parliamentary party.

This may not be impossible for him since he has been a leader, who can garner a majority from the elected parliamentarians to get elected the parliamentary party leader.

Therefore, for him, it is not strange to promote himself as the country’s future prime minister at a time when the ‘No, Not Again’ campaign has been launched calling for boycotting of the “tested old leaders” in the elections,

Interestingly, those youths (younger generation) who are spearheading this campaign seem to be in support of Gagan Thapa.

There are doubts that Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who are also in the prime ministerial race after the elections, would easily pave the way for Gagan to become the Prime Minister.

In order to make his dreams come true, Gagan constituted a secretariat of experts at his home and conducted a workshop on running the government.

He has even made a detailed plan on how to carry out development work in the country after he became the Prime Minister.

However, Gagan has not made his roadmap public. His confidants say Gagan has already prepared a complete blueprint of all the developments that he can do after becoming the prime minister.

This has made it easier for Gagan to win the election, but it has also put pressure on the future prime minister to win the election of the parliamentary party.

There are doubts that Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who are also in the prime ministerial race after the elections, would easily pave the way for Gagan to become the Prime Minister.

Amidst doubt and apprehension, Gagan will turn no stone unturned to fulfill his dream.
